Details

Shape, stack, puzzle and pretend! The Explorer Growing Play Box is designed for toddlers 19-21 months and up - the stage when shape matching, story sequencing, and imaginative tools spark big independence. Everything your little one has built since those first months comes together with new challenges in one keepsake gift box.

What's Inside

  • Stacking Penguin Family - 5 penguin figures with colorful geometric blocks to stack and balance on a wooden base
  • A-Frame Shape Sorter House - post 6 chunky shapes through the house and sort by shape and color
  • Wooden Binoculars - Kids’ Kaleidoscope Binoculars twist the tube to see magical patterns.
  • Layered Nesting Puzzle - 4-piece wooden puzzle showing the chicken life cycle from egg to hen
  • Farm Multi-Activity Puzzle Board - lift-and-match puzzle with flowers, bee, bunny, chicken, eggs and carrots to build vocabulary and problem-solving
  • Illustrated play guide for grown-ups, packed in a giftable keepsake box

Why It's Perfect for 19-21 Months

At this stage toddlers are making sense of stories and categories. Nesting the 4 chicken layers teaches life-cycle sequencing and size gradation. Posting shapes into the house refines shape and color matching. Stacking penguins builds size sequencing and balance, while puzzle pieces strengthen visual discrimination and binoculars invite imaginative role play and focus - the bridge between toddler play and preschool thinking.

About Wood

Our toys are made of natural wood - solid wood for the main pieces, plus quality engineered wood where a panel needs extra stability. Every piece is sanded smooth and finished, so there are no sharp edges or splinters.

Wood is a natural material, so the piece you receive may show its own grain pattern, color depth and small natural marks. That is not a defect - it is what makes each toy a little different from the last.

Care: wipe with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then dry right away. Do not soak wooden parts, put them in the dishwasher, or leave them in direct sun or a damp room, since wood can warp and crack. A light coat of food-grade oil once or twice a year keeps the surface fresh.

Wood species and finish vary by product. If you need the exact specification for a gift, an allergy concern, or a matching piece, email support@freniland.com with the product name and we will confirm it for you.
Warning

Adult supervision is required. This toy is intended for children within the age range shown on this page and on the packaging. Younger children should not use it unsupervised.

Check screws, bolts and joints regularly and tighten them if they come loose. Stop using the item right away if any part is cracked, splintered, broken or has come loose, and contact us before using it again.

Keep away from open flames, heaters and standing moisture. Children should not stand, jump or climb on the item beyond its intended use, and it should never be used as a step, ladder or flotation device.

Remove all packaging, plastic bags and loose hardware before play and keep them out of reach of children. Some sets contain small parts: check the age grading on the packaging before giving the toy to a child under 3.

Good, not perfect

I'd like a bit more from the shape pieces. Fine, but there are a couple of things worth flagging. Fine, with a couple of small things to note.

Would buy again

My 20-month-old has grown into a new favourite from this set each week. No chemical smell out of the box, which I always worry about with painted toys. Worth every penny.

Genuinely the best toy purchase we've made in ages. My toddler is especially taken with the shape pieces.

Good value

My little one uses most of the pieces. Nothing wrong with the shape pieces, just not the standout. Happy with it for the most part.

Can't fault it

My 13-month-old gets this out every single day. The paint hasn't chipped at all despite weeks of daily play. Can't recommend it enough.

Not what I expected

Sadly a let-down. I had trouble with the sensory pieces almost straight away.

Lovely quality

My 13-month-old has grown into a new favourite from this set each week. It's a proper heirloom piece rather than disposable plastic.

Good buy with one small gripe

My toddler uses most of the pieces. No problems with the shape pieces so far. Still a good purchase.
